PRESENTATION TO SOLDIER
A very pleasant evening was spent at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. Marston, Shields street, Flemington, on Saturday evening last- the occasion being a send-off given by them in honour of their son-in-law Corporal Reg. Longden, who is leaving shortly with the Army Service Corps. Supper was served in the diningroom, the table being covered with an Australian flag presented to Mr. Marston by Corporal Longden. In a few well-chosen remarks Mr. D. Mehegan proposed Corporal Longden's health and presented him with a wristlet watch from Mr. and Mrs. Marston and the Longden family. Also an armlet from himself and Mrs. Mehegan; a wallet and several other useful presents from other friends. Amongst the guests were two soldier brothers-Lance-Corporal Harry Longden (returned from Egypt) and Corporporal Keith Longden, now in camp at Broadmeadows; also Sergeant McKaige, of the famous "7th" who was severely wounded at the Gallipoli landing and has since got his discharge. After spending a most enjoyable evening, the company dispersed about twelve o'clock, wishing the "guest" of- honour "God speed and a safe return."
