A Farewell.

A very enjoyable and enthusiastic farewell was given on Thursday, 4th inst., by Mrs. Wallace to her brother Orm. A. White, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. White, 11 Macaulay road, Kensington, on the eve of his joining H.M.A. transport "Shropshire" A9, as wireless operator. The opportunity was taken to wish him bon voyage and every success in his new undertaking, and he was the recipient of many suitable presents. This energetic young man, after six months' hard study, was successful 18 months ago in obtaining his certificate for both "Marconi" and Telefunken systems, but it is only since the outbreak of war that he has been able to put his abilities into practical use. Mr. White was born in Kensington 22 years ago, and his father and mother have been residents of the place for 38 years. His was the first amateur wireless station in Kensingon, and he made all his own instruments.

NOTE:  Ormond Amos White does not appear to have served in the RAN or the AIF.
