Word has been received by the relatives of Bugler J. P. Earle-Simpson, who left here with the 7th Battalion two years ago, and who was badly wounded at Gallipoli. Since recovery he has been doing light duties on head quarters at Mustapha, Theyvich and Abbassia for some time. He has now been transferred to the Anzac Mounted Division. An extract from a letter received:
You see by the new address that I have been transferred to an other corps--the Anzac Mounted Division. I am now a trumpeter, and also in the famous pipe and brass band. This corps consists of men picked from the Australians and New Zealanders (Anzacs). One has to be five feet ten inches and a good chest measurement and have an excellent good conduct sheet, be recommended by some of the "knuts" of Egypt. I get good food, have a beautiful horse to ride, plenty of work and nothing to growl about. The General says that it is now the best trained corps in the world. If that is true we have something to be proud of. We were told that if we go on the way we are doing we will be in France before long and then on to England .
