Simonsen-J-A-Pte-3173 future brother-in-law
George Ross arrived in the Middle East on 29 Jan 1916, and was taken on strength of the 4th Light Horse Regiment at Heliopolis on 20 March 1916. He probably took part in the charge of the Australian Light Horse at Beersheba in 1917. On 21 September 1918 he was transferred to the 4th Machine Gun Squadron. On 21 Sep 1918 he left via the Dongola for return to Australia.
