In our last issue it was mentioned that Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Scorer had received a cable stating that their youngest son, Leonard, had received his commission. He enlisted in October, 1914, in the 3rd Signal Troop, and sailed from Australia in February, 1915. He went with the 3rd Light Horse Brigade, to the Dardanelles, and was there for six months, when he took sick and was sent to Egypt.
On recovering, he was sent to the officers' school at Zeitoun, and then left with the Australian Composite Light Horse, which accompanied the English Expedition to the Senussi. In the battle at Xmas, 1915, with the Senussi, he was mentioned in despatches and personally complimented by general commanding. They returned to Egypt and rejoined their brigade, which was re-named the Anzac Mounted Division. He has been with this on the Eastern frontier of Egypt since, so at Xmas, 1915, he was on the Western frontier of Egypt, up to the Gulf of Sollum; and at xmas, 1916, on the Eastern frontier at Assyrian border. He also states that he has the same horse that he had in camp at Broadmeadow, and that he is as good as the best, although it has been wounded several times.
