Driver Reg. Speed (Barney), of McPherson street, Essendon, who has sailed to [the] front to join a brother who has been [fight]ing since the war began, was given a [send]off by a large number of mates [who] wished him a safe return, and pre[sented] him with a silver cigarette case and [mor]occo wallet. Driver Speed, who is of [small] stature, was not thought tall enough [for] the Citizen Forces, but had no d[ifficulty] in passing all tests for service abroad [is] leaving his business to the care [of a] younger brother, he has set an [example] to many a man who has no care [of any] kind.
