Private C. A. Woods, son of Mr. and [Mrs] A. Woods, of 78 Fletcher street, Essendon was killed in action on 10th May. [He was] 25 years of age, and left Victoria [with the] 58th Battalion. The young soldier, educated at the Essendon school showed great promise. His brother, [Pri]vate H. J. Woods, who was wounded [at] Gallipoli, has returned to Victoria.
