When Driver H. J. Truman, son of Mr G. Truman, of 32 Ormond road, Ascot Vale, left for the front early in May, he threw overboard, while in the Great Australian Bight, a bottle in which was a letter addressed to his mother. He stated in the letter that he was in the best of health, and he asked the finder to send the epistle on. The letter in question reached Mrs. Truman safely the other day, having been picked up on the beach by Mr. G. Willis, of 152 Mandonah road. South Fremantle, and sent on to its destination.
