Mr. and Mrs. F. Morris of "Arawatta," 35 Filson street. Ascot Vale, have been notified that their son, Pte. Lindsay F. Morris, of the 7th Field Ambulance, has been mentioned in despatches, and has been awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous bravery in bringing in wounded under heavy shell fire. He is 21 years of age and has completed over 1000 days' service abroad.

The recommendation for this award states that during the heavy bombardment of Westhoek Ridge on 27 September 1917 Pte Morris proceeded to tend a man's wounds and assist him to the dressing station while 'being exposed to intense shell fire without cover all the time'.
