L.-Cpl. N. D. Weston, D.C.M., son of Mr. J. Weston, of Moonee Ponds, has been decorated with the Russian Cross of St. George, of the 3rd Class. He enlisted in 1915, when 18 years of age, and served in the 22nd Battalion in France, where he gained the Distinguished Conduct Medal for gallantry and presence of mind during a bomb attack, in which he was severely wounded in the head and invalided to England. On returning to Aus tralia, he was presented with the medal at Broadmeadows Camp by Sir Ronald Munro Ferguson.

Citation for Distinguished Conduct Medal.

For conspicuous gallantry when holding a portion of a captured trench against a bombing attack.  He was in the act of throwing when he was severely wounded in the head and fell forward.  He shouted to his comrades "The pin is out".  Thanks to his presence of mind his comrades escaped unhurt.
