News has been received by Mr and Mrs ... Houghton, of Forrester St, ... Es[sendon] that their son, Albert, of the 2nd ..... Northamptonshire Regiment, [BEF] has died of wounds after having [been on ] active service for 3 years and 9 [months]. He had previously been wounded ..... and had been in the army for ...... Another son William, is with ...... and Cyril, the youngest, en [listed] in Melbourne, but after being in .... some time was discharged as medically unfit.

HOUGHTON.-Died of wounds on 26th April, Albert, of the 2nd Battalion, Northamptonshire Regt., B.E.F., loving son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Houghton, Essendon, brother of Cyril and Merlie, uncle of little Albie; after 3 years and 9 months' active service; with the colours 10 years.

British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920
Houghton was awarded the Victory Medal, the British War Medal, and the 1914 Star, with a clasp. His parents were recorded on the index card as applying for his 1914 Star, and their address given as 12 Forester St, Essendon.
