[ASCOT VALE FOOTBALL CLUB]
Ascots' officials and players were tendered a euchre party and smoke social by the social committee in the Temperance Hall on June 14th. After an exciting finish, the card trophy was won by Frank Parr.
Refreshments were then partaken of and the boys settled down to a good evening's amusement. Many toasts were honoured, including one to "Our Boys in the Trenches." During the evening, C. Phelan (Sacco), who is leaving to fill the gaps, was presented by the club with a wristlet, watch. The musical items rendered by Messrs. Lane, Cook, Carris, Hall and Gray, were greatly appreciated. The arrangements were in the capable hands of Ascots' social secretary, Mr. Alf. Gideon, who received the thanks of the company for giving them the opportunity of furthering the social feeling of their club. The evening was terminated by the singing of the National Anthem and cheers for our allies.
