From Detailed Medical History, B2455.

 

Was buried in shell burst on Gallipoli.  Has in addition to injuries to left foot & back, skin abrasions on shoulder.  Rash appeared at margin of abrasions and spread wherever skin was broken.  Nerves were upset by accident and have been shaky since.  Has tried duty but compelled to come to hospital again with vomiting and diarrhoea.  Shell shock.

 

Ernest's sister Ethel was engaged to Waldren-W-J-H-Pte-717 who was killed in action.
