Citation for Military Medal
While in charge of a stretcher squad evacuating from a RAP in the neighbourhood of "Helles" East of YPRES on Sept 26th and 27th 1917, this NCO showed great gallantry and devotion to duty. Part of the bearer route ran through marshy country across which the enemy put a barrage of HE and Gas Shells. On one occasion L/Cpl MCPHEE was partially stunned by a shell explosion but insisted on carrying on and continued carrying wounded until relieved several hours later.
