For devotion to duty.  This NCO during the operation of East of Amiens, from August to October 1918, was sergeant in charge of the Despatch Riders Section and carried out the duties with conspicuous ability, foresight and entire disregard to anything but efficiency of the service and care of his men,  he furnished an admirable example of hard work regardless of time and conditions, and as a result, maintained a consistently good DR service under extremely difficult conditions.

Date of Recommendation 18 Jan 1919.
