During the operations, East of YPRES in October 1917, this NCO who is Transport Sergeant of his Battalion, on many occasions, displayed great courage and coolness in handling the men and animals under his charge in the Pack Transport under fire and exceptionally trying conditions. His work has, at all times, been of a very high standard and he has always set a splendid example of loyalty, contempt of danger and devotion to duty.
