243 —Pte. J. J. Vallance, 8th Batt., sailed for Egypt on 1st April, 1916. After a short stay in that country he was transhipped to France, landing at Marseilles, and thence across the country from South to North to the scene of operations. He has never said much about the great adventure he has been engaged in, but, as he has been with the gallant 8th right through we know he has had a full share of all the things going. He had a had attack of trench feet, which necessitated a visit to "Blighty," where he was three months at Hurdcott and Sutton Veney. He has had leave in Scotland, where he had at very good time with relatives at Strathavon. When last heard from "he was O.K." |
