Frank Vivian Pearse was born in Flemington in 1891 to parents Annie Elizabeth Parker and John Pearse. His father appears in the electoral rolls at 8 Marwick St in 1909 and 1914 as initially a collarmaker and later a saddler. The collarmaking may have been related to horse collars rather than gentlemen's collars. Frank evidently had saddling in his range of skills when he joined the army.
This photo was lately located behind a mantelpiece during a renovation at 8 Marwick St, Flemington. The men are all Light Horsemen, so does not include Frank Pearse who was an Infantryman. The photo was taken at the Alma Studio in Footscray. They may have been cousins of Frank, or his wife, Daisy Gladys Nixon, if they were engaged before the war. Please get in touch if you know who they are.
