Recommendation for Military Medal
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during attack on PERONNE on 2/9/18. When all except 1 Officer became casualties in the Coy, his NCO took charge of 2 platoons and carried forward the attack by leading his men through the front wave who were badly shaken by shell fire. His initiative and leadership at a critical moment gave new life to the attack as in the dash forward his platoons captured the Machine Guns which were delaying the advance to the objective; on reaching the objective Sgt Williamson showed the greatest skill in consolidating his position in depth and sending out battle patrols to keep touch with the enemy. His work at a most critical moment was of the utmost value to his side.
