Mr. B. Cloke, of Moonlight, received a cablegram on Saturday morning from his son. P. J. Cloke, stating that he had received a commission in England on August 19. Lieutenant Cloke, before enlisting, held the rank of lieutenant in the Citizen Forces, but enlisted for active service with the rank of sergeant.

Temporary Captain Percy James Cloke.

Divisional Trench Mortar Officer 3rd Divisional Trench Mortar Battery, attached to 38 Inf Bn

 

This officer was transferred on the 18th September 1916, from Infantry to Command a Medium Trench Mortar Battery, which he took into the line at the end of November.  This Officer did such excellent work, and has shown such high ability and devotion to duty, that he was appointed DTMO on January 23rd 1917.  He has brought the Trench Mortar Batteries to a very high state of efficiency.
Recommended 6-3-17.

 

Lieutenant Temporary Captain Cloke was received severe gunshot wounds to his left arm and right leg on 3 June 1917.  RTA 10.9.1917

 

Mr. B. Cloke received word on Monday from the Base Records Office that his son, Temporary-Captain P. J. Cloke who was wounded severely in both arms, has been reported improving.
