The Vicar's Letter
..as I write, there has come word of the death of Norman Durston, who was also of my bible Class, but who left us three years ago to enter the Military College of Duntroon. They have all played their part nobly, and we may well believe, have earned their Master's "Well done".

Australian Red Cross Wounded and Missing Enquiries Bureau Correspondence.
Durston, Norman Henry, Lieut C/W 9.5.15
(Died of wounds 24.5.15, details wanted as to nature of wounds.) Was sent by Col. Cannon of the 15th Batt, in company of a witness to establish its communications with a captured Turkish trench. As he got there he was shot through both legs. He was left in the trench in an impossible position owing to Turks being able to infilade and bomb them. Witness was the last man to see him alive and when he had to leave the trench to get ammunition which was running short, he laid Lieut Durston comfortably on the ground.
